7 Pointers To Remember When Saving Money On A Cruise

By David Erskine

Have you been thinking of going on a cruise but looking for some answer to this question: how much money should you bring on a cruise? How much should you budget when you go on a cruise? This is one of the most common questions for first-time cruisers and it's important that you really plan how much to take. Cruise lines are very good at persuading you to spend on needless stuff.

Giving Gratuities - Normally giving tips will cost you less than $13 for each person in your cabin per day. Cruise lines will give you an on-board account so anything that you buy inside the cruise ship will be covered out. The card provided will also be your cabin key and pass to get around the ship. Then after your trip, they will total the gratuities that will be added to your bill and you can pay with ATM or cash.

Alcohol and Soft Drinks - Your cup of java, tea, milk, juices and punch are all supplied for FREE but you must shell out for alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. And yes, there is a 15% gratuity to each order.

Photographs - Cruise line employees will shoot a lot of pictures of you and these will cost you $15 - $26. The cost will go in your on-board cruise account.

Shore Excursions - Booking a shore excursion is optional, but remember that cruise lines will do their best to entice you with a lot of tours and these will cost at a maximum of $100 for each person.

Collectibles - Same thing here. Collectibles that you purchase inside the ship will be charged into your account.

Spa Services - The costs of their spa services is a little high when you compare it to an average spa salon. Normally you will also have to pay for some special massage services or any other offers insides the spas.

Using The Internet - Cruise ships have wireless connection access but you will be charged with a fee if you use it. This will cost you a good $50 for every hour. My advice for you is to use the Internet on the shore because it's a lot cheaper and faster compared when you're inside the cruise ship. - 29868
